The
holy book of Christian is the Bible. It is divided into the Old Testament and
New Testaments.
New Testament:
The
Christian bible is divided into two major divisions and the second of them is
the New Testament. The New Testament is a collection of twenty-seven books
centered on the figure of Jesus of Nazareth. Each of these books has its own
author, context, theme, and persuasive purpose. Combined, they comprise one of
history’s most abundant, diverse, complex, and fascinating texts. The books of
the New Testament are traditionally divided into three categories: the Gospels,
the Epistles, and the Book of Revelation. The book is written about the life of
Lord Jesus, his preaching, his words and his work. The book contains the life
story of Jesus from his birth till his death. The death of Jesus Christ is
mentioned in detail, including the resurrection. The day of resurrection became
widely known and celebrated and is called Easter. The book is written to spread
Christianity everywhere and make people believe in god. The book is believed to
be written in 100 A.D.
Old Testament:
Old Testament is one of holy book of
Christians. Old Testament is one of the two major divisions of the holy book
Bible. It is now the scared and holy form of sculpture and literature for
Judaism. The holy book Old Testament contains 39 (Protestant) or 46 (Catholic)
or more (Orthodox and other) books, divided, very broadly, into the Pentateuch
(Torah), the historical books, the "wisdom" books and the prophets. The book is a collected version of
selective writings of the people of Hebrew and Jewish community. The book
was written in the 12th century B.C. The major parts of the book are
written in Hebrew language but some of them are also written in Aramaic, which
is a language used by the Jews. The Old Testament is a collection of
thirty-nine books about the history and religion of the people of Israel. The
authors of these books are unknown, and each book possesses a unique tone,
style, and message. Individually, they include stories, laws, and sayings that
are intended to function as models of religious and ethical conduct.
Together—through hundreds of characters and detailed events—they represent a
unified narrative about God and his attempt to relate to humankind by relating
to a specific group of people. The Old Testament contains four main sections:
the Pentateuch, the Former Prophets (or Historical Books), the Writings, and
the Latter Prophets. This study guide covers books from the first
three sections. The Old Testament can be summarized by nine main
historical periods which are: The Creation, Abraham and the Hebrew Patriarchs,
Moses and the Exodus, Joshua and the Conquest of Canaan, Samson and the Judges,
David and Solomon, The Divided Kingdom, The Destruction of Israel and Judah,
and Ezra and the Return from Captivity. It would be good to memorize these main
sections to create a summary of what took place.
